The Big F - Maggie Ann Martin (so much potential, but not enough of it was used)

new adult (set directly after high school) contemporary romance
when I discovered this book online
I was immediately drawn to it because of the cover and plot
I thought that the book had an interesting and fresh angle
I was excited to find out how the main character would deal with failing a class
she needed to be able to visit her dream college
I was excited to see her grow
to become a stronger person than she had been
I was excited to go on an emotional journey with her
however I have to say
that the book didn't deliver what I was hoping for
most of the characters were missing some depth
I never understood why Danielle failed that one class
it just didn't make any sense
all of the sudden Danielle knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life
of course something different than planned before
but I couldn't believe in her passion about environmental issues
not when she dismissed organic food as not important to her
she didn't seem to have any interest in the environment in her private life
I also wasn't the biggest fan of her romantic interests
sure one was nice
but it took over the story
and didn't leave much room for personal growth
unfortunately "The Big F" wasn't a great book for me
the potential for something amazing was there
but I don't think that enough of it was used.

  1. Sounds like this one was enjoyable, but definitely didn't reach the heights that it could've. Books where the characters don't have as much depth as I'd like are always a struggle for me!
