The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow - Katherine Woodfine (a charming story)

#1 in the Sinclair's Mysteries
historical detective fiction, main character is 14
I decided to buy and read this book because the Edwardian setting sounded interesting
plus the story charming and thrilling at the same time
and the characters as if I could enjoy reading about them
and all of that turned out to be true
"The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow"
is a charming detective novel
with a cast of young characters
who all try to handle life, earning money and solving serious crimes
that are happening at Sincalair's
a big department store where some of them work
I had a good time reading this book
even though at times the characters sounded and acted as if they were a few years older than they were supposed to be
and Woodfine's story didn't touch me as deeply as I was hoping for
I enjoyed my time with the book
however nothing of the characters and story stayed with me
so that's why I'm not sure if going on with the series makes sense
even though I had a nice time with the book.

  1. It sounds like this one was entertaining but not something that will stay with you. Sorry it didn't turn out to be better for you! Probably best to leave the series.

    1. And that's exactly what I plan to do. Sometimes a nice story is just not enough to keep me interested im going on with a series.

      Happy Reading!
