Books that give me courage, hope and strength + which are your choices?

With everything that is going on in the world right now, right-wing parties and movements gaining support everywhere, and other troubling developments, I recently thought about the books that give me strength, that give me hope and the courage to raise my voice, to help others, to be open-minded, to be kind, to say hello to strangers, to actively work for a world full of justice, respect, kindness and love.

Eon & Eona

A young woman who on first glance doesn't have the power to change the world, to make it a better place. A world in which being female is not connected with having strength and the power to change things. Through hard work and determination Eona manages to achieve her goal. Eona's way is not an easy one, she falls down, but always manages to get up again and in the end stands proudly.

The Others series by Anne Bishop

A woman on the run, being caged because she is different, treated as a merchandise, abused, but never broken. Humans and paranormal beings trying to find a balance, trying to build a life, a future, to live in peace and harmony with nature. To only take what is needed. Only together they can achieve their goal. It's not that easy, sometimes it's deadly, but always worth it.

The running dream by Wendelin van Draanen

A book in which one girl finds strength after being hit by tragedy. She builds the strength to change the world for herself, one special girl and so many more. Through courage, hard work and support by family and friends she proves that nearly everything is possible. And that acts of kindness make you a stronger person.

And so many more books

Most books I read, regardless their genres, feature good people fighting for what is important to them, be it love, freedom or something else. They do so by working hard for their dreams, buy showing courage, by accepting other people for who they are, by loving love in all variations, by judging people for what they do, not for how they look, by raising their voices, by fighting against intolerance, by living what they want to see in the world.

So many characters from books I have read since I was a child give me the strength and courage to act with kindness, but to also be determined and frank when needed. Staying quiet is not the answer. Doing nothing is not the answer.

Which books give you courage, hope and strength?
