A study in Charlotte - Brittany Cavallaro

young adult mystery
"You've never seen Watson and Holmes like this before"
I loved the sound of the book
and of course its cover
hoped that the book would be a great YA mystery
just like "Every Breath" by Ellie Marney
and "When" by Victoria Laurie
but after reading the book I have to say
that I'm a bit disappointed in it
it wasn't what I expected
the way some of the serious topics were dealt with was imo a bit problematic
I expected a fresh new story
but felt as if the author sticked a bit too close to the world of Sherlock Holmes
and especially his enemies
the book is described as "Equal parts tender, thrilling, and hilarious"
I didn't see that many hilarious moments in the story
the romance didn't touch my heart
I couldn't believe in it
and I also couldn't see the characters as real people
the plot is overall interesting and thrilling
but it didn't make me excited for me
unfortunately not my kind of YA mystery
I don't plan to read the other books in this trilogy.

German readers:
The translation was published as "Holmes und ich – Die Morde von Sherringford"
