A few months ago I bought the paperback version of
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and at first I was very happy with the edition. But then a few weeks ago I saw how amazing the hardcover version by Pan Macmillan looks, inside and outside. Compared to the paperback version there is a map in the book, plus underneath the dust jacket the real magic is going on. The motive from the cover is continued and moved to the next level, I love it. And yes, what is underneath the dust jacket was in this case enough for me to get a second copy of the book.
I'm not sure if I will keep the paperback or give it to someone else, we will see. For now I'm just happy to have this fantastic version of "Carry on" in my life.
I also got the hardcover of this one. I love it when good books are pretty.

So true! It's always a bit disappointing when a book you like looks meh.

I haven't read Carry On, or any of Rainbow Rowell yet but I did just buy a hardcover of #1 in my favourite series: The Chronicles of the Invaders because sometimes you just need to buy the hardcover!

Exactly, and if the design underneath the dust jacket is something special then it's even better.
