Woho, it's time to show you the new book pile that is waiting to be read by me. As always I'm very excited for all books, each sounds and looks fantastic.
- The lies that bind - Kate Carlisle, cozy mystery, #3 in the Bibliophile mystery series
- The Declaration - Gemma Malley, dystopian, YA, #1 in the Declaration trilogy
- The history of the Pink Carnation - Lauren Willig, historical fiction, adult, #1 in the Pink Carnation series
- The Beekeeper's Apprentice - Laurie E. King, mystery, adult, #1 in the Mary Russell series
- Something strange and deadly - Susan Dennard, paranormal, YA, #1 in the Something strange and Deadly series
- Shadow of night - Deborah Harkness, paranormal, adult, #2 in the All Souls trilogy
We just read The Beekeeper's Apprentice for book club and I loved it. I'm not a mystery reader at all so I was really caught by surprise on that one. If you've read any Sherlock Holmes mysteries before, this one is very different because Mary is very much Sherlock's equal as opposed to being just a foil for him the way Watson was. I now have the second book in the series and I'm hoping I like it just as much.
ReplyDeleteYay, that's great to hear. I have never been a been that interested in Sherlock Holmes, but this series sounds just great.
DeleteI've finished Water to Burn by Katherine Kerr, and am reading Third Grave by Darynda Jones. I have that cozy mystery series on my wishlist though.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Water to Burn before, need to check it out.
DeleteHappy Reading!
I already read Shadow of Night and really enjoyed it. Right now, I am reading an ARC of Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder.
ReplyDeleteHope you will enjoy the book you are reading right now. And I can't wait to start with "Shadow of Night".

DeleteThe Beekeeper's apprentice's cover reminds me of Disney's Snow White. I like it! Enjoy your reading! :)
ReplyDeleteI also like the cover, it's a bit different to most of my other books and I like that.
