Marine Biology + The Sumage Solution - G.L. Carriger (entertaining male/male paranormal romances)

male/male paranormal romances
prequel and #1 in the San Andreas Shifters series
my love for the books by Gail Carriger is well documented
so of course I was super excited to see that she is publishing a new paranormal series
this time it's not set in a steampunk world
it's set in our world
and it focuses on male/male love stories
there are werwolves and magic
the tone of the stories is pretty casual
and overall I had a good time with both novels
they are fresh, intense and funny
however compared to the other books by the author I read
I was missing some finesse in the world building
plus at times the plot seemed a bit erratic
and the books didn't leave a lasting impression on me
they were nice books to read
but I was hoping for something with a bit more depth.

  1. I'd not heard of these books. I have read one Gail Carriger book and enjoyed it so I will try and check these out. They may not be the authors strongest books but they sound interesting and decent reads so I'll try and remember to give them a chance.

    1. I would recommend reading more books in the other series by Carriger, especially because of the world building, it's stronger in her steampunk novels. I enjoyed her adult, YA and NA series a lot. But the new books are entertaining, so that's good.

      Happy Reading!

  2. Gail Carriger's books are a ton of fun! I actually had no idea that she was working on a new project, let alone one that was out in the wild, as it were. This sounds like a fun new series, and while it may not be up to the standards of some of her other work, I'm excited to read it at some point!

    1. I'm always surprised that you don't hear that much about the books by Carriger online, there is rarely a lot of hype surrounding her new releases.

      Happy Reading!
