Have you read "When Dimple met Rishi"? I could use your help ...

Recently I'm stumbling over "When Dimple met Rishi" by Sandhya Menon pretty much everywhere. So many bloggers and booktubers are talking about the book and of course that makes me excited to maybe read it myself.

I first had heard about the book some months ago, read the synopsis and thought that this could work for me, but I honestly wasn't blown away by it. Now I finally checked out an excerpt and I'm even less sure about giving the book a try. In the excerpt I enjoyed reading about Dimple, however didn't like Rishi and thought that the writing style was ok, but nothing special. Some scenes were cute, others annoying. And I fear that this would continue with the rest of the book. I'm not sure if Rishi is a character I can learn to appreciate, I'm not sure if I the cute scenes will be really cute for me and I'm not sure if I can believe in Dimple and Rishi as real people.

But on the other hand I'm still in some way fascinated by what I'm hearing about the book, sometimes being a reader can be soooo complicated.

Has anyone of you already read the book? Do you think I might start to enjoy the rest of the book even though the excerpt was just ok for me? Do you think I might start to enjoy reading about Rishi? And do you think that the writing style might work for me in the long run?

  1. I picked this up and was really looking forward to it. I haven't read it yet but like you said it seems to have been given nothing but glowing reviews! To my recollection I've never read a book about arranged marriage and thats what really drew me to it! It sucks hearing that the hype might be unfounded...

    1. I hope that you will enjoy the story a whole lot. I'm not too excited about the topic of arranged marriages, so that's another reason why I'm hesitant about picking up the book.

      Happy Reading!

  2. I had never heard of this till I read about it here. The subject however is not for me. Its quite commonplace in my part of the world and I like to read something different!

    1. I can totally understand that you are looking for something different in your books. I have to say that the subject is also not my favourite and never will be.

      Happy Reading!
