Recently read contemporary romances: I don't love everything I read (rock stars, sports, erotic)

I recently read all of the contemporary romances I had on my ebook TBR pile. None of the books was bad, none was great. All were pretty ok, but unfortunately didn't leave a lasting impression on me.

Shoot out + Once Burned - Lisa B. Kamps

"Shoot out" is part of a sports romance series by the author, I have read several books in the series so far and enjoyed most of them. "Shoot out" fit well into the mood of the series, mostly light-hearted with some serious undertones. I enjoyed the book while I read it, however the story was pretty easy to forget once I finished reading, it was the same with the other books in the series. I might read more in the future, but it's not a must.

"Once Burned" is book #1 in the Firehouse Fourteen series and the book gave me an ok reading experience. The plot wasn't perfect for me (second chance romance after something terrible happened) and I wasn't that interested in all of the characters. I don't plan to go on with the series.

Rock you - Rachel Lacey

This is the first book in the Risking it all series, to be more exactly it's a novella that starts the series. I expected to love the book, the male main character is a rock star and I often enjoy romances with them, however the romance left me cold. None of the characters managed to make me interested in learning more about them, so this is a series I don't plan to go on with.

Rise - Karina Bliss

Another rock star romance, another book that had been on my wish list for some time, another romance that left me cold. Yes, some aspects of the story were pretty interesting, but I didn't care enough about the two main characters to get emotionally involved in their romance. I also couldn't believe in everything that was going on. Right now I don't plan to go on with the Rock Solid series.

Curveball - Charlotte Stein

I discovered this erotic story recently online and felt immediately drawn to it, I even checked an excerpt to make sure that the writing style would work for me. But once I really started the book and got to know the two main characters more and more closely, I realised that I wasn't interested in them. To make it worse the male main character got on my nerves and the romance left me cold. So this wasn't a perfect erotic romance for me.

Happy Reading!

  1. I really like Charlotte Stein but her romances are definitely not for everybody! Sorry to hear that Curveball didn't work for you, and I don't think I'd like Rock You or Rise either...I'm usually not a big fan of rock star romances. Hopefully your next batch of romance reads will be better! :)

    1. Thanks, I'm hoping the same. I often like rock star romances, together with sports romances they often belong to my favourites. But this time things just didn't work for me.

The next romance I'm going to read will be "Good Boy" by Bowen/Kennedy and I hope that I will love the book. Actually I'm pretty sure that I will.

      Happy Reading!
