The Glass Sentence - S.E. Grove

The Glass Sentence is the first book in a middle grade trilogy
it's a historical adventure story
set in a world in which different continents are set in different time periods
some are well documented, others not at all
our main characters are (around) 13 years old
Sophia's parents have been missing for years
she's part of a family of famous explorers and cartologers
she has no sense of time in a world where time is crucial
her uncle goes missing
she and a Theo, a boy her age, are trying to rescue him
the story is one big adventure
all kinds of maps play an important role
I wasn't as fascinated by the maps as I wanted to be
in the middle of the book a few pages less wouldn't have hurt
I'm not sure if I will go on with the series
I liked the characters, the world building was good
I would like to know what happened to the parents
a good book, not a great one
might be a great adventure for children around 13 years old
but also for adults with a fascination for time and maps.

  1. I really liked this one! The writing really drew me in.

    1. I liked it, but hoped to enjoy it even more.
