I'm finally sitting down to talk a bit about some ebooks I read in the last three books, in this post I want to share my thoughts on four stories that weren't perfect for me, four stories that are all adult contemporary romances.
I bought, downloaded and read this adult contemporary romance after I saw some very positive reviews on the book online. I was in the mood for a sexy romance and thought that "Love in Rewind" would fit to my mood perfectly.
I read the ebook right after I bought it, I thought that the beginning was interesting, but soon the constant flashbacks things left me a bit cold and got boring. I couldn't believe in the love story and had trouble to connect with the characters. The drama at the ending didn't work for me at all, everything seemed a bit too ridiculous and unbelievable. So in the end this was an ok book for me, I was not as delighted by the book as other readers were.
On the last pages of "Love in rewind" is an excerpt for the next one in the series, Lies in Rewind. I actually thought about buying and reading it, but after reading the excerpt I will definitely not. In the excerpt there is a scene that includes a big no go, the male main character is touching a clearly intoxicated woman intimately & sexually, a woman he knows isn't interested in him. Excuses like "my hands have a mind of their own" aren't ok, not at all, this is not something I'm going to support by buying the story, hell no.
Change of Heart - ME Carter
A nice romance that entertained me, but that didn't make me excited for more. The book is an contemporary sports romance, it's a nice read, but especially the love story was not as great as I wanted it to be. The characters were likable, the drama at the ending IMO not necessary. In the end a nice book that is a bit too easy to forget.
Everything I want - Natalie Barnes
If you like rock star romances with drama, drama and more drama, then this book could be great for you. I like some drama, but even for me this was a bit too much. Plus I had some issues with the characters, they weren't that likable.
Absolute Beginners - SJ Hooks
The premise of the book is interesting, on the one hand you have a rather reserved professor and on the other hand his confident student. There is some major attraction between them that soon develops into something more, something that is not allowed and that will change everything.
The story was hot and entertaining, but I wasn't completely fascinated by what was going on, the relationship between the main characters lacked some depth. Right now I'm not sure if I will go on with book #2 in the series, I might if I'm in the right mood.
