Book Cover: The Bees

When ordering books online I always wonder how the cover will look in real life. Sometimes book designs aren't that special once I finally hold them in my hands, but other times I'm astonished because they are way more special than they appeared to be online.

I thought long and hard about which version of "The Bees" by Laline Paull to order, and even after I hit buy I wasn't sure about my decision. Because there are at least two versions of the book that appealed to me and I wasn't sure if both would look special in real life. In the end I decided to order one of the US versions.

Yesterday I picked up my copy of the book and I'm very happy with my decision to get this version. The details on the book, the colours and rough-cut pages fit together perfectly and make this one special book to look at.

The story itself also promises to be a special one so I'm super excited to read this book in a few weeks. I'm helping a beekeeper from time to time with her work, so I have a special interest in bees and I'm excited to see how the author used the life of bees to write a novel.

  1. Oh, it definitely looks good! I was lucky to grab it on sale in ebook format, but your pictures make me wish I could have both.

    1. Having both would often be the perfect solution. This book cover made me once again realize that images of covers online often don't tell the whole story.

      Happy Reading!

  2. I really wanted to like this one. I jumped through hoops requesting it last year and then saved it to read on a special trip, but I was let down. I liked the concept but the story fell flat.
