New books

New books, all bought

I already read "The Liar" last week and enjoyed it a lot (my review), "Out of the Shallows" is a book I already read in ebook format, because I enjoyed it I wanted a print copy for my home library.
The other books are all new to me, two - "Everything leads to you" and "Love Letters to the Dead"-  are stand-alone novels, the other three are part of series I enjoyed in the past and I'm excited to continue with.

Doesn't "Everything leads to you" look beautiful? I read and loved "Hold Still" by Nina LaCour back in 2011 and can't wait to get lost in her newest novel.

Happy Reading!

      LG

    1. I'm super excited for the book because I loved the excerpt I read, I'm hoping that the rest of the book will work for me as perfectly as the excerpt.

      Happy Reading!

  3. Hi Julchen, where do you buy your books? I am a bit unhappy with Bookdepository at the moment, and am looking around for a new online bookshop. I love that you are so happy reading again.

    1. I get most of my new books through my local bookstore, I can order the books online and then pick them up in the store, but of course it's a small German store, so not really an option for you.

Spontaneously I can't think of another online bookshop that I can recommend, but I will think about it some more. May I ask why you are unhappy with Bookdepository? Maybe one of your blog readers might be able to recommend a shop that would work for you.

And thanks, I also love it. I'm not just back to loving reading again in every way possible, but also book blogging, commenting and so on, it feels great.

      Happy Reading!

    2. Well. the prices have exploded since January 1, and I just ordered some with a 10% coupon, and now they have changed things so that they added the taxes at the last possible moment, and that makes the books even more expensive. The tax was included as soon as you logged in so they knew from where you were ordering from.
So, higher prices (almost 2 euro's per book in pre-order), extra taxes on top of those higher prices, and it takes extremely long for the books to arrive. Lately most of my books have an extra sticker that it has been sent through Austria. And you know England-Holland, well, Austria is a big detour.

    3. The prices have also exploded on the German amazon site, so maybe it's a company thing or the prices in Europe regarding books have increased in general. I use the German amazon site for my wish lists, but then order through another bookstore and many English books cost around 12-13 Euro in December 2014 (hardcover, new release), now the prices are up to 17 Euro, it's crazy. Paperback have also gotten more expensive.

And sending your books through Austria to get to you is really ridiculous, guess they can save a few cents but you have to wait longer, not that consumer friendly.

The added taxes at the step would piss me off, if you have to do something like that, then do it in the first possible step.

Please let me know if you find a new bookshop to order your books from, I hope that there are still alternatives to the big shops. I'm wishing you luck that you will find a good shop.

I think in Germany Thalia is right now less expensive compared to amazon and TBD when it's about English books, but shipping the books to Holland is too much.
