Reading next #29 - it's a wrap & I'm surprised

A few days ago I finished reading my latest reading pile and today I want to share my thoughts on some of the books with you.

The books
Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
The Goddess Chronicle - Natsuo Kirino
Magic Rises - Ilona Andrews
Nameless - Lili St. Crow
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
Just in time - Addison Fox
Earth Star - Janet Edwards
Dark Souls - Paula Morris
Enchanted - Aletha Kontis
A French affair - Katie Fforde
A darkness strange and lovely - Susan Dennard
Meet me under the mistletoe - Abby Clements

Nameless, Earth star, Enchanted und A darkness strange and lovely are the good books from this reading pile, all are YA books, so for once YA rules. :)

Both Nameless and Enchanted are in my opinion exciting first books in two YA series. Nameless is a book with very mixed reviews and I nearly didn't buy it because of the negative ones, thank goodness that my interest in the story was stronger than the reviews. The writing style was one that made it easy to get lost in the story, the story itself was a bit messed up and I liked that, the characters as well are not perfect ones, they have sharp edges and I enjoyed reading about what happened to them a lot. The ending of the story fit perfectly to the rest and I'm very excited to read the next book in this paranormal YA series next year.

Enchanted has the vibe of a fairy tale, one that is set in a world in which there is potential for many more interesting stories. The book was very easy to read and I liked all of the characters. I have to say that I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the second one, but overall I still enjoyed the whole book and I plan to go on with the series.

Earth star and A darkness strange and lovely are both second books in YA series. Earth star is part of a futuristic series in which some humans can't leave earth because of a genetic defect. The heroine of Earth star is one of these people and she is one strong young woman. In this second part of the series Jarra is once again right in the middle of a serious and dangerous situation. Overall the book was a bit weaker than the first one in the series, some new developments felt a bit forced, but I still enjoyed the story and meeting the characters once again. I'm not sure if there will be a third book in this series, but I hope so, because I want to know more about what began in "Earth Star".

A darkness strange and lovely had a bit of a slow start, at first I had a hard time to reconnect with the characters and the world the book is set in. Around page 100 I finally got over these issues and started to enjoy the plot and the setting a lot. I also enjoyed the way the story from book #1 in the series was continued, the new developments fit perfectly to what had happened previously and they make me very excited about the third and final book that will be published in 2014.

You will meet the books on my new reading pile tomorrow.
Happy Reading!
