TBR pile update - how big is yours?

Add caption
It's time for a new TBR pile update! I did my last update on August 24th and then I had 38 books in my print TBR pile. Now I'm under 30 and that makes me very happy. Ok, my ebook TBR pile is still at about 80 books, but I'm going to ignore that number today. :) I plan to concentrate on my ebooks in a few weeks and I'm sure that I will not be that hard to go down to about 20.

I read a lot of books in the last weeks and managed to get my TBR pile to a size that is pretty perfect for me. Of course last week I bought a ton of new books, so my TBR pile might grow a bit in the next days. :) My long term goal is to stay under 30 books, that's a very manageable number and one that doesn't make me anxious.

And here is my print TBR pile in detail.

How big is your TBR pile? Has the size of it changed since August 24th? And are you happy with your TBR pile?
I would love to see some pics of your TBR piles, if you have some just leave a link to them in the comments.

  1. My TBR pile is teeny tiny! The thing is, I'm from the US but go to university in the UK. So when I left for uni in September, I had to leave behind like 20-30 print books. I only brought about 4 physical books with me, so my TBR pile almost started over from scratch!

Don't worry, I still have about a million ebooks in my TBR pile as well. :P

    1. Lol, I guess everyone has a huge ebooks TBR pile, it's just so easy to collect them.

My sis also had to leave her books behind when she went on her two semesters abroad. She is right now in Lithuania and now uses my ebook pile. :) That way I already managed to sort out some of ebooks because she read them and didn't like them at all.

Btw, I think it's pretty cool that you go to an university in the UK. Hope it's going great.

    2. Btw, your November TBR pile looks awesome. I'm especially excited to hear your thoughts on "Crusher" and "The Falling Kingdoms".

    1. Book piles always seem to increase without us readers doing anything. :) I know readers with TBR piles of over 1000 books, so yours is still pretty small.

    2. 1000! Gosh! I don't think I could let it get to that amount... I have no space left as it is!

    3. The space would be one problem, but for me so many unread books would lead to a nervous breakdown.

  3. um 3 bags worth of books and 2 piles in closet and book case. I haven't counted them up yet...but over 100 I think. That's not including ebooks to read :(

    1. I never include ebooks in my TBR pile number, it would drive me crazy. :)

  4. Wow, I envy the amount of books you have to read ... but I'm also pretty happy I've managed to reduce mine down to less than 5 books :-)

    1. 5 books is amazing! I would be very happy to get under 20.

  5. Oh my, thinking about my numbers is giving me a severe headache ... seriously, how do you do it? I have this theory that you have the ability to travel into a different dimension where you read your books for days on end and when you return, having polished off a whole stack, only a few measly minutes have passed in "real time". Am I right? ;-)

    1. Lol, that would be very nice. :) But unfortunately I don't have any kind of super powers. I think it's a combination of being a fast reader, of spending some time every day on the train (perfect place to read) and of preferring to read over watching bad shows on TV.

  6. AAH! How do you manage to make your TBR pile shrink??? Seriously, mine's only getting bigger... It now consists of 265 physical books... I don't even want to think about the ebooks...
I do however very much like looking at my shelves filled with pretty books just waiting for me to pick them up :) I'll read them all, eventually.

    1. I also love looking at my pretty TBR books, that always makes me happy. :) My sis is even worse than I am, she doesn't have a TBR pile. She reads a book and when she's finished with it she will get a new one. I think she has never more than 2 or 3 books in her TBR pile.

  7. My TBR is getting out of control and I try not to buy any more books! Thanks for your post, now I need to update and remind myself what books I have. :D

    1. Buying no new books is so hard! I'm never strong enough for it.

  8. Lol, as usual my TBR is only growing each month. Although I am also buying lots of YA for my stepdaughter lately. I average 20 books a month, and buy at least 50.

    1. Whenever I see your book haul I'm a bit shocked, but in a positive way. I love that you buy so many new books every month.

  9. Counted them just now - I have 28 books on my physical TBR pile and about the same amount of ebooks to read (but they don't count;). I'm happy because the pile is under 30. The next goal will be a TBR under 20 but I suppose Christmas is getting in the way...

    1. Great numbers, if only my ebook TBR pile would be that small!

  10. I have exactly 129 books on my TBR pile (ebooks + physical books). I want to cry...

    1. Don't cry! Together with my ebooks I have about that many. Maybe we will both be able to get under 100 books soon.
