Rough cut jealousy

My sister, who is right now staying a few months in Vilnius (the capital of Lithuania), recently bought a book that is very special. The book has rough cut pages and my sis had to use a knife to separate the pages from each other and now the book has a very unique and beautiful look.
I love books with rough cut pages so I'm pretty jealous of her. And of course I want my own book from Vilnius. :)

Are you also a fan of rough cut pages?

  1. Yeah, they're lovely! <3 I haven't seen any in the bookstore in town, though. But it feels like they're getting more and more popular, so maybe we'll have some around here soon, too :)

    1. I sure hope so. I was very surprised when I saw that the paperback version of "Anna and the French kiss" has rough cut pages, I wish more books would have them. But of course I also know that some people hate rough cut, it's not for everyone.

  2. Sadly I don't get them, I just don't like how they feel. I haven't read one yet so maybe I would change my mind if I did. So far however I only came across German editions with rough cut pages, and German translations are sadly ruined for me every since I started reading in English.

    1. So true, too many German translations are not good enough.
Maybe you will give the rough cut pages a try one day.

  3. I like looking at them but owning one...not very.
I'm pretty OCD so they kind of drive me crazy. xO

  5. I only have seen rough cut journals and I don't like to write a journal. But they look great. So I'll have a look for real books:).

  6. An antique book with rough-cut edges retains its value IF the pages are not separated.

    1. That's interesting to know, my sister's book was luckily not an antique book.
