Add caption
Welcome to day three of the In Death discussion week, check out the agenda of the week here. And enter the discussion from Monday here and from Tuesday here.

Today is about greed or in Eve's case anti-greed.
I want to know what you think about

  • Eve loves Roarke despite his money. What do you think about that?
  • Which of Roarke's expensive toys do you like the most?

I'm excited to read your answers and will of course share my own thoughts in the comments.
Please share this post with other In Death fans, the more people enter the discussiothe merrier.

  1. Of course I like that Eve is together with Roarke despite his money and not because of it. But I also like it that she has learned to accept the wealth and even appreciate it, because it's an important part of who Roarke is and his lifestyle.

And I wouldn't say no to the kind of diamond Eve is wearing on her necklace. :)

  2. I agree, it's good that she slowly learns to appretiate Roarke's money because this is actually one of the few things that annoys me about Eve. I really dislike how defensive and stuck-up she gets when it comes to spending Roarke's money. She doesn't think of it as their money and I think that's one of the things they still have to work on. I know that some of the readers commend her on not using him for his money, but that shouldn't even be an issue. We all know Eve would never do that and Roarke would never feel as if she did. It simply means accepting Roarke and their lifestyle. She can enjoy and accept the rest, so why not this? But without being exasparatingly contrary she wouldn't be Eve ;]

I wouldn't mind having Roarke's library or the inconspicuous car he gave Eve. I'd love to have a loaded car like that! ^.^

    1. Exactly, and why not enjoy the money they have? There's nothing bad about it. I think Eve has already come a long way and is way more comfortable with spending their money, I like that.

  3. I thought it spoke volumes about how deep Eve's feelings for Roarke went because she married him despite his being wealthy. She's still obviously still uncomfortable with his money even though she's starting to get used to it. :-)

    1. True, she has learned to live with this part of his life and at times feels even comfortable with using the money, for example to build the park for Roarke's mom. I like that she is more relaxed about the money than she was.

  4. She saw the man behind the money, and as she never had much or found it very important, she doesn't need it. I like it how embarrassed she is whenever she finds new things in her closet and such. But I also think she is accepting it more and more, and I would not have her changed in a big spender. It is just not her.
I like Roarke and his gadgets, the things he invents. I would love to have a robot housekeeper.
