Four years ago I decided to take my love for reading to the next step, I decided to start About Happy Books. I wanted to share my love for reading with other readers and I wanted to recommend the good books I read to other book lovers.
My blog started with the following post

So here is my first post, it should be something special but because I'm still working on making my blog the way I want it, I'm going to keep it short.
In the future I'm going to post my reviews about books that I read recently, days, month or years ago. As long as I liked a book I'm going to post about it. There will be no negative reviews because I want to concentrate on the books I enjoyed. Of course there are books and series I'm not really in to, but I'm going to keep quiet about them.
I'm also going to write about books I can't wait to read, so after the present and the past here comes the future. And of course most (ok, all) books I'm talking about will be books with a happy ending because when reading I like to wear my rose-coloured glasses, that's why I love romances.
Oh, before I forget it: English is not my native language and I try my best but of course sometimes there will be little mistakes. So sorry for that.
Hope you have as much fun reading my blog as I have writing it.
Since then some things have changed, for example my url (from norarobertsismyqueen to abouthappybooks), and I got a new layout that is 100% me. But the core of the blog is still the same. I still blog solely about the good books I read and I still do what feels right to me and not what is trendy. I still enjoy blogging as much as I did on my first day and this makes me very happy. I still feel that every post on the blog fits completely to who I am and that's another thing that makes me very happy.
At times I feel a certain alienation to some parts (some of the 'cool' people) of the book blogging community, but all in all I love book blogging. I love interacting with other book bloggers and of course I love all readers who are interested in talking about the good books they read. Thanks to all the nice and amazing readers I met here on the blog, on facebook, on twitter, on youtube, on booklikes and on goodreads. You all are amazing and make talking about books one of the best things in my life.

Happy Blogoversary! I discovered your blog through Youtube. If I remember correctly it was one of your first videos featuring your bookshelves.

I discovered "About Happy Books" first, when I visited Carina's blog "It's all about books". I was looking for some new nice book blogs I could read and I found yours in her sidebar. So that's my (not really exciting) story about how I got here. Anyway, I really like the way your blog is designed and my favorite posts are the ones about the nice book covers you discovered.
I hope your blog will still exist for a while and that you keep enjoying books and writing/talking about them.

DeleteI'm not even sure how I first came across your blog, did you participate in Top Ten Tuesday maybe? I know it was about 1,5-2 years ago (yeah, my memory kinda sucks). ReplyDeleteBig congrats to the 4th birthday of AHB - quite impressive in the blogger community where lots of blog come and go. I've found AHB through BLIT about a year or so ago and I love both of them. Your's AHB has brought me to write in Englisch - which I haven't done since ages ago during school. Allthough reading in Englisch is not a problem, writing is a diffrent story (and I think I'll never get the right structure to my sentences). As you said in your first post I also "try my best".
I love your cover favourites and your pictures about books. I have no clue how you make those lovely pictures but they show all your love about books.

ReplyDeleteI can remember that I have first visit your German blog (Books lost in translation) and that I like the post about book covers (because I love covers so much you do) and than ... slowly I read you English blog. First I was afraid, because I'm very bad in English, but at your blog I understand the most and that makes me happy! So, thanks for this and I hope we can celebrate many more years! :)

I discovered this blog by one of your comments in Twitter, after that I also discovered and joined Goodreads. I really love to read your books rewiews and opinions. I have taken many of your books suggestions into account, is good for my english, also to give a break to my everyday spanish (I live in Argentina), and coming soon will be in german (I'm learning it). But so far my reading are limited by only two languages.
