DBD #267 - broken spines, new books and stories

Day 267of the year is nearly over, at least here in Germany, and as always some new bookish things happened.

Another books bites the dust. :( It is frustrating that so many promising books haven't worked for me lately. I'm just so damn picky about plots and characters right now.

Starting with "This is a love story". I heard from other readers that this is a lovely and emotional love story, wish me luck that I will enjoy it.

Want to know if I'm a book spine breaker or not? Check out my new video on Youtube.

I hope that next week some new books will arrive. I ordered four from the USA weeks ago and they take forever to arrive. Books should be a priority. ;)

Just realized that J.K. Rowling's book is coming out next week and I have no interest in reading it. The plot doesn't sound that fascinating to me.
Do you plan to read the book?

  1. Oh my, my Mum is actually ONE of them too - she's only interested in the story and not on how the book looks on the outside. I can only cringe when I see how her books are lying on the table - the poor books! :(
I have to admit that a few of my books look like this too, but those were the very first books I've read in English and back then I didn't know it better and couldn't handle the new book format very well ^^
But I absolutely love your video - I laughed till I cried ;)

    1. Thanks!
Both my mom and sis can't understand why I hate broken spines so much. It's always entertaining when we talk about it and I try to convince them that my way is the "right" one.

  2. I won't get the new J.K. Rowling book. I have totally no interest in that book and the story totally doesn't speak to me. I wish she would have written the 7 first book before Harry Potter...about the Marauders...that would have been so much fun!

    1. I get the feeling that many readers are not that interested in the new book. Not because it's an adult book, but because the plot doesn't sound that interesting.

  3. Great video! :-D
Spine breakers give me the creeps! Thank God my friends are also very careful with their books, only my husband has that bad habit. But I mostly buy him hardcovers, so the damage is controlleable... ;-)

I love-love-love the Harry Potter Series, but I couldn't care less about her new book. What a shame! The plot sounds soooo... not for me.

    2. My feelings exactly, the plot of the new book doesn't sound interesting so I will not spend my money on it. There are so many great sounding books on my wishlist, I prefer getting some of them instead.

And good for you for buying your husband hardcovers. :) And thanks!

  4. The Casual Vacancy doesn't appeal to me. Reading the synopsis kind of bored me. :/

    1. Dito, maybe I will give the book a try if some of the people I trust in will love it. But the plot just doesn't sound that exciting.

  5. Think I'll read The Casual Vacancy but I have to think about it once more. I'm going to read a few reviews too and then I'll decide. I like the Synopsis so far but it's still far away from Harry Potter isn't it?
