TBR pile update #7 - what is your status?

the books I plan to read next
Back in January I did my last TBR pile update and I think it's time for a new one. In the last four months the books in my TBR piles have been exchanged completely. My system to first read the books I own the longest is still working perfectly for me. Of course there are always some exceptions to this rule, but all in all I stick to it.

My print TBR piles from today

more books from my TBR pile

Back in January I had 51 print books and today I have 25, so I managed to reduce my print TBR quiet a bit. 25 books are IMO a very good number and I want to stay at that. Right now I have more YA than adult books, but don't worry, in June I plan to buy some new exciting adult romances.

There is also this weird ebooks TBR pile, that is way bigger than it should be when you keep in mind that I don't even like reading ebooks.

prove that I'm completely crazy :)

In January I had 51 ebooks on my TBR pile and now there are 70. Please don't ask me how this happened. For someone who doesn't really enjoy reading ebooks this number is crazy (and not in a good way). My goal for the next weeks is to get this number to zero and then only buy ebooks on rare occasions. I already managed to read three ebooks on my smartphone this week and I plan to keep on doing it, especially when I'm on the train.

What is your TBR pile status? How has your TBR pile changed in the last months? Are you happy with how big your TBR pile is right now?

  1. Congratulations on reducing the size of your TBR stack. My TBR stack is 24 books larger than last month. It was 1310 and now it is 1334. Forty of them are books I have for review and 694 are books on my Kindle. I like reading on the Kindle but have been favoring print books lately because getting them off the stack looks like I am making more progress. I am resigned to the size of the stack and don't think I will live long enough to catch up. I just can't stop buying books I am interested in reading even when I know I don't have time to read them.

    1. Wow, my TBR pile is so small compared to yours. This makes me feel really good. :)
It's great to hear that you can't stop buying books, I'm the same. I love book shopping.

  2. My TBR stack hasn't really changed much despite my book buying ban - right now I have exactly 401 books on it (roughly 160 are eBooks) and I believe I started out with about 405 or so. I've read 60 books so far which means I've received lots for review and I've also won a book (or a dozen, ha) every now and again.
I really admire how you keep your TBR pile to such a decent size, a size which mine was before I started book blogging (go figure). On the upside, my wishlist is tiny (I reduced it to maybe 20 to 25 books or so).

    1. My wish list has gotten bigger again lately, but I can live with it. :)
Winning books and getting them for review shouldn't count, so your TBR pile is really smaller then 401.

  3. Lol no matter how much I read, I keep buying twice as much. I know, I am a true bookaddict. But whenever I am feeling blue or unhappy, I just go surfing the net for new or secondhand books I want.

    1. I do the same, buying books always makes me happy. But I have to make sure that my TBR pile doesn't get to big, because otherwise I get a bit anxious.

  4. I really don't know how many unread books I have in my shelves. I have never kept track.
But OMG! My eBooks are the worst!! I think there are like 100 books waiting to be read on my Kindle for PC T_T
I'm rearranging my shelves this weekend. Maybe then I'll be able to tell how many unread books I have :D

    1. Maybe not knowing how many books you have is not so bad. ;)

  5. Uhm...I tried the thing with the special tbr shelf...but...honestly? I still read what I want and what I am in the mood to. To make a tbr pile seems not to be the right way for me and my strange moods. I mean...I really try. :P

    1. Lol, your strange moods make a system like I use impossible. I only get these strange reading moods rarely, so my system works for me.

  6. Ahum, I'm scared to check back to what I answered last time, cause I know my TBR list has grown, exponentially I think. I now am the proud owner of 188 books I haven't read and don't even get me started on digital ones... Also, the to-read list I have on Goodreads has 1167 books on it.
But yeah, I'm pretty happy with all the pretty books I have on my shelf, even though looking at the number is pretty intimidating ;)
Go you with 25! That sounds completely manageable! :)

    1. I think as long as you are happy with the number of books you have in your TBR pile, all is good. Not everyone is so anxious about owning too many unread books as I am.

  7. I actually don't know how many books i have in my TBR pile. All I know is that I have half a bookshelf to read!

    1. Lol, maybe it's better that you don't know how many books are in your TBR pile.
