How was your bookish week?

My bookish week was dominated by reading a lot of average books, some good books and a weird mood that made it hard to choose the right book to read. The positive thing is that my TBR pile got a bit smaller this week (at least my print TBR pile), the bad thing is that reading too many average/ok books frustrates me a bit. But I'm hopeful that the next days will bring some great books. And I really need to start reading some of the ebooks I own, I think I have over 60 that are waiting to be read.

In the next days I plan to work on my "In June you will be mine" list and I don't think that it will be a huge list. I bought so many books in the last two months, so maybe it's time to slow down a bit (but just maybe. :) ).

As you might know I love buying books for my mom, especially books I read & enjoyed myself. I bought my mom the German version of "Anna and the French kiss" a few weeks ago and she is reading it right now. I'm of course super excited for her opinion on the book. I loved Anna and I so hope that she will also enjoy it.

Here are some of my impressions from the last seven days, I'm abouthappybooks on instagram. If you are also active on instagram, please let me know in the comments.

  2. I feel your pain as far as all those average books go. I don't remember last year being so full of "only" average books *shrugs*. Now I am seriously starting to wonder whether I'm just too picky? I don't know. I've only read a handful of books that were really amazing (aka 5 stars worthy) in the past couple months. On the upside, there've been quite a lot of great books (4 stars material) and luckily no books that made me want to bang my head against the wall, but still. What happened to those truly awesome reads? Don't they want to spend their life with me? Boohoo.

    1. I also think that 2011 was better in regards to reading, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. But I'm not giving up hope that the next months will be full of great books.

      Have a great new week.

    1. Ah, sorry to hear that. Hope that next week will be a bit more relaxed. I hate days when you are too tired for pretty much everything.

      Have a great new week.

  4. I almost had no time at all to read, and those I tried I DNF. So that put me in a bad mood. Hope to make it up the coming week.

    1. I can understand that this put you in a bad mood. I actually did DNF two books last week, sometimes you just have to do it.

      Have a great new week!

  5. I finished The Hunger Games, which I really liked. Than read "Winterzauber" by Nora Roberts... These part was really cool. But then I started reading "Die letzte Delikatesse" by Muriel Barbery. Do you know it? It was really enough to read the 4 chapters in the beginning and the last one. *hmpf* The next book was Morgenrot by Tanja Heitmann, I like the beautiful german cover. It wasn't as good as I expected it to be. It's just a pitty. Thank God, I didnt' got the HardCover for ~20€, I bougt it on medimops for ~3€ :D
Today I started with Alles Glück kommt nie by Anna Gavalda. Do you know it?
    Greetings!

    1. I haven't read the German books you read last week, but I will look up what they are about. It's really a pity that you didn't enjoy the books.

I sometimes also only read the first chapters and then the last ones of books I don't enjoy. Sometimes you know after reading a few sentences that a book will not work for you and then I think reading a few chapters of it is more than enough.
I always hope that books that have an especially beautiful cover are great to read but sometimes this doesn't happen.

But of course it's great to hear that you enjoyed "Winterzauber" (I hate the German titles in this series). I adore all four books in the bride quartet series. I especially enjoyed reading about the friendship between the four women.

Have a great new week and happy reading!

    2. The four Nora-Roberts-Books are really good. I like the friendship between them, too. And of course it would be nice, to have them as friends or their wedding location for my own wedding in the future :D
