Changes

In the last weeks I thought a lot about what I want from blogging and my blog. You may have noticed that recently I posted no new book previews or "Mr. Postman, please bring me" posts. The reason for it is a book I blogged about several times last year and that I was super excited for but then disappointed me a lot. I not only disliked the book, I actually hated it. That made me think about my blog and what has changed on it since I started with blogging in August 2008.

When I started "About Happy Books" I posted reviews about my favourite books and nothing else. I don't want to go back to that completly and decided to be more careful about book previews. author interview, giveaways, etc. . In the future I will concentrate more on the books I already read and enjoyed. I want to be 100% positive about everything that happens on my blog. I will go on on with feautures like"Favourites of the week", "Mr. Postman ..." and "From Europe to the world" because I like them, but I will be more careful about which books I praise before I read them.

Book blogging is a hobby I engage in because I love reading and talking about my favourite authors & books. I want to have fun while blogging, so concentrating on what feels comfortable to me and on what fits to my personality & convictions is the right thing to do. I hope you will continue to accompany me on my journey through the beautiful , exciting and fantastic world of books.

  1. Yikes...may I know which book it was? But I understand that. There are books I have wanted so long and then they just disappointed

  4. I'm with you Sabrina! I've decided to make some changes too. Blogging stopped being fun for a while, and I want it to be fun again.

  6. Big hug! I love your positive reviews as it always makes me smile to see how much someone loves a particular book. :-)

  7. Hi Sabrina, I haven't discovered you all that long ago, but I will still be reading your reviews. And I do understand you are not going to "pimp" a book if you don't know if you can back that up eventually. But don't you write a review about a book you have read and did not really like after all? Only the positive ones?

  8. Just don't disappear. Your blog is too beautiful to fade away into obscurity. We all need our daily dose of pretty! :D

  9. Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I don't plan to disappear, talking about great books is way too much fun for me.

@ Aurian: I review the books I enjoyed, I always did and always will. My blog is about having fun and I don't have fun when writing a negative review. I write a few words to all the books I read in my "books I read" tab, there I say if I didn't like a book and why.

  10. I totally understand how you feel.I have also caught myself in the past getting anxious about things over at my blog or praising and getting publicly excited over books I ended up disliking them. That's why I decided that blogging is all about fun and our love for books and that's what I should concentrate on.

  12. That's why I started blogging too! I wanted to let the world know about my favorite books. Now, my reviews are still mostly positive because the books that I read come from recommendations from other bloggers. I don't bother with books that I don't think I'll like. But there are times when I still end up having lukewarm reactions to some of the books that I read, I don't think that can't be helped.
