Anna Oliphant has no choice but to spend her senior year at in American high-school in Paris. She has nothing against France but leaving her friends behind and starting anew in a strange country is not what she wished for.
Fortunately she soon finds new friends who are willing to show her the most beautiful and exciting places in Paris. And there's on boy in special that Anna can't stop thinking about. Étienne St.Clair is the most charming person Anna has ever met and just like all the other girls she isn't immune to him. Through her new friend Mer she soon becomes close to Etienne however she fights against her feelings because he has a girlfriend.
Will Anna learn to appreciate her time in Paris and will she and Etienne get a happy end?
In the last few weeks I read one raving review of "Anna and the French Kiss" after another. So I looked up the book and was suprised because it sounded pretty normal. But still I decided to order it because I wanted to know if it's really so amazing. And after reading it the only thing left to do is write yet another raving review because this books was wonderful and powerful.
Even though it's a YA book I think most adults will enjoy it as well. The main themes of this book are friendship, love and dealing with changes. Anna is an amazing heroine and I enjoyed everything about her. She felt like a real person and almost like a friend. The other characters in this book like Étienne , Mer, etc. were just as interesting and great. Especially Étienne and his charming, complex personality was fascinating and I loved all of the scenes between him and Anna. The friendship and love story between Anna and Etienne was wonderful and I enjoyed that they had time to get to know each other and that the pace of the book was a relaxed one.
Stephanie Perkins's writing style is very powerful. Normally I have troble envisioning things but Perkins managed to make me see Paris through Anna's eyes and at the end of the book I felt like I had just visited Paris myself. I'm already excited to read the next novel by Stephanie Perkins and to once again be amazed by her wonderful and engaging way with words.
If you are looking for a marvellous book that will make you feel like you just took a trip to Paris with some good friends then "Anna and the French Kiss" is the book for you.
I like the cover because it's simple and looks nice.
"Anna and the French Kiss" is a wonderful YA book about love, friendship and life in general. Stephanie Perkins's has the amazing talent to effortlesly transport the reader into foreign places. Accompanying the characters on their journey was a pure joy and makes me excited for more by Stephanie Perkins.
