Review: Touched by an Alien - Gini Koch

Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch
published April 2010
Science Fiction with strong romantic and humorous elements
copy bought with my own money

When Katherine "Kitty" Katt kills a weird looking guy who attacked a woman she stumbles into the world of bad superbeings and good (and oh so sexy) aliens. When the men in black Armani suits arrive and take Kitty with them, a journey full of thrill, action and sexy guys begins.
Drop dead gorgous Jeff Martini is the one who approaches Kitty. He's impressed with how she handled the attack and right from the start claimes that she is just perfect for him. At first Kitty is a bit dazzled by what is happening to her. But she soon recovers and realizes that superbeings and Aliens from Alpha Centauri (A-C) like Jeff are now part of her life.
Will Kitty be able to handle Jeff, Christopher (also from A-C and he doesn't seem to like her), her parents (who have some suprises for her) and the bad guys?

Right from the first page on I enjoyed reading "Touched by an Alien" a lot. Gini Koch's writing style is very engaging and I never got bored while reading the book. If anything the more I read of the book the more I enjoyed it. I had to laugh out loud several times while reading and the humour in this book is pretty amazing.

At first I wasn't sure if I would enjoy a book with Aliens but it worked perfectly for me. Jeff and the others are not so different from the human race. Their background and why they came to earth is fascinating and complex. I'm definitely excited to learn more about Alpha Centauri.
Kitty is very witty, intelligent and funny. Jeff is on first glance a bit arrogant and very sure of himself. All of their scenes together were so much fun. The witty banters between them are hilarious and one of my highlight of the book. I also enjoyed that the situation between Kitty, Jeff and Christopher is cleared at the end of the book because I don't like reading series with a heroine that can't decide between two men.
So I loved the humour in "Touched by an Alien" and also the action scenes. They are thrilling and very enjoyable. And of course I liked the love story between Kitty and Jeff. Some of the scenes between them are very sexy and romantic. I was happy whenever I read about them. I'm definitely excited to read more of this fantastic pair. At the end I  want to mention that all of the characters in this book are extraordinary and made reading it a pure joy.
So, enough with praising this amazing book. If you are looking for a book that makes you laugh a lot, that is lovely & sexy and that contains an intelligent, complex plot then I would recommend "Touched by an Alien".

Love the motive and the colours - all in all it's just perfect.

final appraisal
I enjoyed everything about this book. The action, the love story, the witty banters and especially the fanatastic characters made this book so awesome and one of my favourite novels in 2010. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

  5. This was definitely a fun book- I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC of Alien Tango and I'm happy to say that it's just as much fun as this one. I'm glad you liked the book!

  6. Chrissie, Barb and Angie, this book is so much fun and even though it's SF it's also has lots of romance and humour in it.

Lisa and Emily, good to hear that Alien Tango is just as great. Hope that I will get my copy next week.
