Review: Cut to the Corpse - Lucy Lawrence

Cut to the Corpse by Lucy Lawrence
published 2010
cozy mystery; #2 in the Decoupage series
bought my copy

Brenna is enjoying life in her new home more and more. She has found great friends and a job she loves. Her landlord Nate has become a good friend and she would be willing for more with him. And there's also Dom who isn't shy about telling her that he wants to date her.
The quiet and relaxed life is once again disrupted when a murder takes place and Brenna finds the victim. Brenna is ordered to not start sleuthing again but because she is convinced that the suspects are innocent she can't stay back.
Will Brenna once again solve the crime and will there be new developments in her private life?

I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the first one in the Decoupage series. I loved learning more about Brenna, Nate and the others. I especially enjoyed that nothing in the story is rushed and that while reading I was able to relax and have fun at the same time. The relationship between Brenna and Nate is interesting and I really hope that they will become a pair in the next book. Dom is also an interesting man but I prefer Nate.
I also enjoyed reading about Tenley and Matt. All of the characters in this series are pretty much normal people and they have normal lifes. Lucy Lawrence manages to make normal so entertaining and just great. Furthermore I enjoyed that the crime was not over the top.
The next book in the series will be out in 2011 and my copy is already preordered.

Cute and just right.

final appraisal
"Cut to the Corpse" contains everything that I enjoy in a cozy mystery. The story is interesting & intelligent and the characters are likable & great. I'm excited to read more about Brenna, Nate and what happens next to them. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries I would really recommend this series and the books published under Jenn McKinlay.
